Friday morning

Today began with a phone call from Amy. She had to take Daniel to the doctor and would be dropping the kids off shortly. Poor Daniel has not been feeling well and spent one night in the ER earlier in the week. His rash was more pronounced this morning.
I had a great time with the 3 kids. They watched tv, Joyce helped me bake cookies, Joyce made a thankyou card for a friend and Paul tried to keep David out of the kitchen.
Amy said later that the doctor thinks that Daniel has Lyme Disease.

Daylilies

These daylilies were along the driveway at Charlie's place. They are beautiful!

Charlie's Garden...

I stopped on Monday to feed the chickens, but could not help noticing how beautiful Charlie's garden is looking. Actually, everything is looking green and lush-probably due to all the rain we have been getting lately.

Joyce in Swiss Costume

Joyce's Performance

Today I had the fun of going to see Joyce in one of her World of Children performances. The children dress in costumes from different countries and sign to recorded music. It is very enjoyable to watch and the children always do an excellent job. Today Joyce wore a new costume. She has been dressed in a Thai outfit, but today she was dressed in a Swiss costume. The performance was held in a senior citizens center.
All the songs were wonderful, but there is one part that really impressed me. The National Anthem was announced without the usual request to "please stand." Of course there were many very frail looking folks present and no one would think twice about it if they decided to sit respectfully. But they didn't. They stood up. Some really struggled to get to their feet. One very elderly fellow had to make several tries and the song was nearly over, but he managed to come to a full military salute "For the land of the free and the home of the brave."

Despite the hot humid weather it was a lovely day. Church was great and after the kids had lunch here -taking advantage of the air conditioning. Paul got his Father's Day gifts from the kids. It was all so enjoyable!

Saturday 6-17-06

Today was fun! The kids came this morning to work on their Father's Day gifts. First, they made cards using photos that I had taken of them earlier this month. Then we made fancy treat bags full of kisses for him to take to work. We also made a special gift on the sewing machine. I hope to get pictures when they give all the gifts to their dad tomorrow. The kids got out some tin windup toys. David remembered the Duck on a Bike and wanted to get it out. He squealed with delight again as it circled around the kitchen floor .

Friday

Friday was a wonderful day, although it did not start out that way. I could not get to sleep the night before until sometime after 3am. I got up fairly early, but was tired most of the day. Linda came and we worked on her paper-great fun for me! I love working on papers for people - and I love working with Linda! About 2pm we seemed to be finished and decided to go to lunch. Linda treated me to lunch at Panera's. I had never been there, but it is a great place. I had onion soup and a half of a chicken salad sandwich. Both were delicious! Linda "showered me" [inside joke] with attention. After lunch we made a quick stop at Wal-Mart and then home. Linda presented me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. I really felt like royalty!

After I dropped Joyce at home it was on to the chiropractor and then over to get some peony pictures. I also had a nice little visit with Marilyn, Amanda, and John. They have been working hard on the yard and it shows!

We met the rest of Joyce's family for lunch, then came back to finish up the test.

Between tests we went outside to watch the new sidewalk being laid.

Wednesday

On Wednesday I gave Joyce her third grade achievement test. {This is a re-enactment]
I think she did well, though I did not check her answers. She listens to and follows directions very well and finished every section ahead of the scheduled time with the comment, "That was easy!"

Sunday, June 11, 2006

It was a lovely day. Cold in the morning, but the sun came out. We had communion this week at church and a dinner. Paul and Amy had a meeting during which their kids played with their friends in the pastor's back yard. I took a few pics and then went off to visit with Liz. We stopped at JJ and Keith's on the way home and picked up a few more boxes of my stuff.
Paul hopes to stop for my file cabinet at J and K's after work today. Of course he may have to work late as it is a gorgeous day. The file cabinet will be a tremendous help to me.
We had a great time visiting with JJ and Keith. And I am sure they were happy to see at least some of my stuff go!
Saturday Linda came over to work on her paper. I had such an enjoyable time with her! She is planning to come over again later in the week.
Wednesday will be Joyce's achievement test day. I am sure she will do very well.
When the kids were dropping me off last evening with my stuff they had a chance to play with some of the tin windup toys. It was such fun to hear David's squeals of delight as the Duck on a Bike careened around the kitchen floor with its flaps spinning around its head!

Thursday

Its hard to believe that May is gone- time passes so quickly.
The kids were here today and that makes my day very special. We had a picnic lunch outside at the picnic table. Chicken nuggets and baked potato with apple for dessert. Daniel had tuna salad instead of chicken.

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!

<
Daniel and Paul love to dig in the garden. Daniel declared that he had found a "festival of worms!"

A bug in a rug?

Today I got a new dishwasher! Good job Paul!
