Charlie builds a fire...

May 29, 2006

It was a beautiful day! The temperature hit 91 degrees today- I wonder if that is a record? My air conditioning is wonderful- everything is cool in minutes.
This evening I took smoked polish sausage and potato salad to Charlie's for our little Memorial Day picnic. He had worked hard all day in the garden and made very good progress. He did not have any charcoal for the grill so he went over to check out the neighbor's. When he opened the lid a mouse ran out - UGH! We decided to build a fire in his charcoal grill for our sausages. It worked out perfectly. Charlie got the fire started and by the time he finished showering our sausages were ready to eat. The sun was going down so it cooled off quickly. It was a very pleasant evening. Charlie pointed out Mum's wigalia which was blooming! How she loved that wigalia!

Daniel found 2 friends...

Daniel was pleased to find a worm and then a friend for his worm...

A row of petunias...

Paul planting petunias...

Joyce planting petunias...

May 2. 2006

Today got off to a bumpy start. I overslept in the morning, having had difficulty getting to sleep last night and the night before. The ringing doorbell roused me from my slumber and I opened the door still in my night gown! It was, of course, Amy and the kids. Amy was on her way to a library book sale and dropping off the kids. I quickly dressed and with Amy on her way, I fixed breakfast for everyone. It was hotdogs for the boys, Pancakes for Joyce and eggs for me. Then we went outside to plant the petunias and mint in my little garden. David seemed more interested in picking the newly planted petunias.
After washing up from the garden activity the kids made some cards.
It was, all in all, a very enjoyable morning.

Trillium!

On the way home from Charlie's I stopped to get a picture of the trillium which is just coming out. It is a beautiful little wild flower -not found everywhere, but in some places it is profuse!

Charlie rototilling

The garden is plowed and Charlie is rototilling. Can you find him in the picture?
If you click on the picture to enlarge it you will find him more easily.

I made my usual trek to the chiropractor on Monday and then over to see Charlie. I was hoping to see some new baby chicks- Charlie had figured on Sunday being their "due day." All we found was a pile of eggs with 2 chickens spread over them. Hmmm.
Maybe by Wednesday...
